My song 37

the farmer thinks you're right
but the problem is he's got pegs for ears and claws for legs
with a soldier's love she might
let her heart explode and pens explode and rabbits rest
beside the road they cannot sleep
without the hum
of traffic passing by

I'm a farmer now
my fingers loose to toss some seeds and clasp my palms
a joke like thunder
breaking dawn its meant for dusk and pioneers
they did not dream of golden hues
but of reds and blacks and
oh so many blues

I see you right now
I laugh and twist you and crown you with a mighty blow
in your father's mask
I can grip the things that kill you like your flesh and bones
the tracks behind your mobile home
are glowing red
squealing like a hell that you may come to know
